Good Sales Don't Just Happen - They're Managed
Carrousel Farms Complete Dispersal
A crowd of more than 1500 people were on hand to take one last ride on the Carrousel on June 7th at Orangeville, IL. This well-known breeding establishment had been home to several of the breeds famous cows including Carol, Rosie, Mandy, Renita-Red, and Lucy to name just a few. The crowd enjoyed a complimentary bar-b-que all day provided by Ron and Norma Bader and their family.
After nearly nine hours, the offerings totalled over $1.7 million, with the 283 full lots averaging $5633. The cattle were sold to breeders from 23 states and three foreign countries.
First in the ring and last in the sale catalog was the sale topper, Stora of Oblong Valley. This well-known young show cow was Intermediate Champion at last years World Dairy Expo. Budjon-JK and Les Davis outlasted Cedar Lane Farm for the honor of taking home the only Jersey ever at Carrousel for the world-record price of $92,000.
The second high seller was another crowd favorite, Quality-Ridge Stormi Hazel, who brought $84,000 from Howard Binder, Clark Woodmansee and Tom Morris. This VG-89 Stormatic was Nominated All-American Jr 2 Yr Old in 2005 and sold due in August to Dundee. Hazel drew a great deal of interest, with Budjon-JK and Lloyd Williams the contending bidders.
