World Classic 2007

World Dairy Expo • Madison, WI • Oct 5, 2007

This year's edition of the World Classic was a record-setting event. The crowd of buyers and spectators was unprecedented in size and believed to be the largest crowd to ever witness a dairy auction in the world. The 38 lots sold for an average of $20,561, the highest ever attained at the World Dairy Expo.

Creating a great deal of worldwide interest was the first ever International Holstein Show Grand Champion to sell at auction in the USA. Budjon Redmarker Desire EX-95 opened the sale in the spotlights and was consigned by Budjon Farms and Jeremy Nitz of Lomira, WI. She was purchased for $85,000 by Peter Vail of Niverville, New York and Budjon, who led her to win the 125,000 Lb Cow class and Honorable Mention Sr Champion the next day. Also selling from this partnership were three young daughters of Desire. Milk Source LLC and Tim Griswold of Kaukauna, WI gave $37,000 for her red Advent calf that had stood 2nd in the Spring Calf class at the Grand International Red & White Show. The same buyers paid $18,000 for her *RC Dec '06 full sister. Gil Teixeira of Turlock, CA purchased Desire's Nov '06 Stormatic daughter for $21,000.

The second-high seller at $71,000 was a beautiful Dec '06 Toystory daughter of EK-Oseeana Ambrosia, the VG-89 2Y Stormatic from Ashlyn 2E-96 GMD DOM. Ambrosia was named Res All-American Jr 2 Yr Old and Jr 3 Yr Old and was 2nd 4 Yr Old on Saturday. She was offered by Ernest Kueffner of Boonsboro, MD and purchased by Wolff, Kugler and King of Millville, PA. Next in line at $48,0000 was a March '07 red Advent from the famous All-American and Madison Res Grand Champion, Scientific Debutante Rae, who was consigned by Matt Nunes and family of Chippewa Falls, WI and bought by Chartroise Holsteins of Rockford, OH.

The sale was managed by Tom Morris Ltd, and plans are already underway for next year's 20th Anniversary Edition of the World Classic.
