Good Sales Don't Just Happen - They're Managed
Gibbsfest II
A bitter, windy and unseasonably cold day did not dampen the spirits of the buyers who showed up on April 6th for the Gibbsfest II at Epworth, IA. The sale was hosted by Joe Gibbs and his three sons Dwight, Lincoln and Clayton, with guest consignments from several close friends.
Drawing a great deal of interest from far and near, and commanding $18,000 from Dr. Paul Knier of Oshkosh, WI, was a big red Winter Yearling by September Storm. She was last year's All-Iowa Fall Calf and is a daughter of the well-known 2E-94 1279F Rolanda, a Red-Marker from Renita Ranger 3E-94.
The second high seller of the day was a promising major- league Winter Calf by Windy-Knoll-View Primetime from eight generations of VG and EX Quality-Ridge dams. She was offered by Tower-Ridge Holsteins of Anamosa, IA, and Austin Rademacher of Penfield, IL gave $6100 to take her lead strap.
Also creating interest from across the country was a special Summer Yearling by Allen carrying an embryo contract for Sweden. Her EX Rudolph dam was backed by six generations of VG & EX GMD or DOM. Consigned by Legend Dairy Farms of California and Juddale of Wisconsin, she sold to Dennis Knapp of Lancaster, WI for $5900.
Tom Morris Ltd managed the sale that averaged $2615 on 108 full lots.
