![]() Good Sales Don't Just Happen - They're Managed Marlina Complete Dispersal A large crowd of friends and area breeders were on hand for the Marlina Farm Complete Dispersal on Sept 11th at Seymour, WI. Les, Kris, Karolyn and Kathryn Terpstra have been familiar faces in the show ring and Holstein activities for many years. Commanding interest from across the country was the EX-95 Beaverbrock Milan Charity. This big Milan was 2nd at Madison as a Sr 3 Yr Old in 2002 and recently named All-Wisconsin 5 Yr Old and Res Grand Champion at the Wisconsin Championship Show. James Woodmansee of Lake Como, PA outlasted all bidders and gave $56,000 for her. The second high seller of the day at $22,900 to Kingsmill Farm II at Raleigh, North Carolina, was a recently fresh Gibson daughter from an EX 1313F dam and then two VG dams with over 150,000 LT. She had been in the top 7 the past two years at Madison and a Jr All-American nominee both years. This big league Jr 2 Yr Old prospect is certain to be one to watch. The cattle were sold to breeders in eight states, with a large number staying in Northeastern Wisconsin, showing a great deal of support from their neighbors. When the final gavel fell, the 62 Holsteins averaged $4901, the 15 Jerseys averaged $2450, and the four special Brown Swiss averaged $4150. The sale was managed by Tom Morris Ltd, with Tom auctioneering and Sandy clerking. They were assisted by Roger Turner, Bob Fitzsimmons, Ken Empey, Scott Courtney, Don Mayer, Brian Behnke, Jay Jauquet, and Mike Snyder. Chris Lundgren, Jamie Judd, Ryan Krohlow, Jon Thurk, and Joel Kietzman had the colorful lineup in show ring shape. |
