Good Sales Don't Just Happen - They're Managed

A Double Celebration For Mayerlane

The Mayerlane Silver Anniversary held September 10th at Bloomer, WI was a double celebration for Don & Liz Mayer’s 25th Wedding Anniversary and their very successful Holstein operation.

When the final gavel fell the 149 full lots averaged $4,429, with nine baby calves averaging $2,300. In addition, 359 embryos sold for $184,475 for a sale total of more than $865,000. Ten lots sold for over $10,000, with lots sold across America to 20 states plus five foreign countries.

The sale topper at $30,000 was the EX-92 13th generation Excellent Rosa Royalty with 36,880 1386 1269. This highly successful flush cow was purchased by the Royalty Syndicate % Doug Reynolds of the UK. No less than five bidders were active to the $25,000 mark. Second in line at $15,200 was Lee Lil, the EX 1193F Lee daughter of Acme Star Lily. Rich Miller of Menomonie, WI added her to their impressive herd. Lee Lil’s beautiful bred heifer by Stormatic commanded $11,700 from Rodney Hetts of Fort Atkinson, WI. Third in line at $13,500 to High Mountain Sires in Utah was a Fall Calf by September Storm backed by 13 EX dams from the Rosas.

Rick Demmer of Peosta, IA bid $13,000 for the rights to own a high numbered 7/04 Durham daughter from the EX 40,210 1455 1375 Rudolph daughter of the 3E-95 GMD DOM Lead Mae.

The sale was managed by Tom Morris Ltd with Tom & Sandy at their usual positions. Roger Turner made the announcements, and Sonny Bartel assisted Tom in the box. Additional sales force were Scott Courtney, Rodney Hetts, Paul Trapp, Scott Culbertson, Nate Goldenberg, Steve Berland, Howard Binder, Brian Behnke, Robert Sabo and Dan Peterson. The cattle were beautifully prepared by Perry Phend, Eddie Bue, Ryan Krohlow, Cody Schultz, Pat Heeren, Les Schmidt, Matt Sloan, Jason Danhoff and Joel Kietzman.

The day of celebration started with the usual Mayerlane tailgate party featuring the wonderful, homemade Wisconsin brats provided by the Mayer family. After the sale, the tent was the perfect place to celebrate Don and Liz’s silver anniversary. A nice crowd of family and friends traveled from far and near to surprise Don and Liz and enjoy the program.
