And finally, the sale we've all been waiting for! Perhaps the most beautiful herd to sell anywhere in 2007 was held on Monday, October 29 at Pleasant Plain, OH.

The Larry Mohrfield family hosted the sale at their beautiful facilities and with warm hospitality. All seven Mohrfield grandchildren served as leadsmen for the sale.

Mohrfield Holsteins is one of the most recognized names in the industry, and has been the home of more than 30 All-American nominees and has received 11 national show Premier Exhibitor banners.

When the final gavel fell, the 77 lots averaged $4884 and were scattered across 13 states. Topping the sale at $18,000 was an EX young Finley from an EX-93 show-winning dam who also sold for $10,200. The big, tall and long Finley stood 2nd in the Jr 3 Yr Old class at the recent International Jr Holstein Show. Jay Ackley of East Liberty, OH was the buyer. The beautiful VG-88 1st lactation Durham from the famous 3E-96 DOM, 4 time All-American nominee, Peaceful-Meadows Star Sassy commanded $15,200 from the Sadie Associates, c/o Don Mayer at Bloomer, WI. Next in line was a 2E-91 fresh Durham daughter from the 3E-94 Devastatin Adeen, a full sister to the All-World Ashlyn and purchased by Ferdi Seeuws of Sheldon, WI.

The sale was managed by Tom Morris Ltd with Tom on the gavel and Sandy at the clerk's table, and assisted by David Lentz, Scott Courtney, Steve Andrews, Brian Garrison and Roger Turner.
