Good Sales Don't Just Happen - They're Managed
South Dakota Nationals
The 2006 South Dakota National Convention Sale was held on June 24 at the Sioux Empire Fairgrounds in Sioux Falls, SD. A super lineup of cattle primarily from South Dakota and neighboring states showcased area breeders. The sale averaged a very solid $6780 on the 64 lots offered.
Anchoring the beautiful lineup of young cows and topping the sale at $27,000 was a *TV Durham sister to last years Madison Grand Champion, Budjon Redmarker Desire EX-95. This potential 4th generation EX was consigned by Budjon Farms of WI and went to Darin and Troy Zoellner of Al-Shar Holsteins in South Dakota.
Kevin and Warren Winter and Bill and Jeff Woods of Kansas gave $25,500 for an April 2006 Shottle from Petinesca-I Durham Ladina VG-89, who is from Savage-Leigh Bellwood Linda 3E-92 GMD DOM. She sold in absentia from Cormdale, Maple Wood, Crystal Brook, Petinesca, Genervations and Todd Whittier.
Robert Heckers Astrahoe Dairy gave $16,000 for a lovely Stormatic two year old from an EX Lee from Acme Star Lily. She was consigned by Rodney Hetts and Dale Kranz.
Drawing a good deal of interest and bids, buyers represented 18 states and 4 foreign countries.
The sale was managed by Tom Morris Ltd with Tom on the gavel and Sandy heading the clerking. Horace Backus was on hand to highlight the pedigrees.
