Wisconsin's Hidden Holstein Treasure Dispersed

An overflowing, standing-room-only crowd filled the large tent outside of Platteville, WI on Saturday, November 5th for the complete dispersal of Platte-Vu Holsteins, owned by Jack & Roni Brogley.

Billed as one of Wisconsin’s hidden Holstein treasures, the offerings were scattered to 17 states across America for an impressive average of $4,194 on 142 lots, with five baby calves bringing an average of $3,780.

The sale catalog was packed with tremendous depth of pedigree and outstanding sires. Topping the event was Lot 1, a fresh EX-92 show-winning Durham milking 118 lbs from a VG-88 EX-MS 25,000M 2 year old Jolt and a VG-89 EX-MS 29,000M Nick, followed by eight generations of Excellents. John Bierbaum of Burnsville, MN gave $13,700 to add her to their impressive Johnan Farm.

Second high seller was Lot 19 for $10,300. She is a VG Highlight that sold three days fresh with her second calf and looked like a sure bet to become a 9th generation EX. She was purchased by Shannon Linderoth of Daggett, MI. Robert Sabo of Green Bay, WI gave $10,000 for her VG-88 maternal sister by Durham, and she’s just waiting to see the classifier.

Scott Mohr of New Enterprise, PA gave $9,900 for Lot 151, the 2E-94 42,000M Emory milking 132 lbs per day. And, after watching her six young daughters average over $6,300, Deronda Holsteins of Amery WI spent $9,300 for Lot 25, a 7th generation EX Storm daughter from the Roxys who is due in January to Highlight.

The sale was managed by Tom Morris Ltd.
