Good Sales Don't Just Happen - They're Managed
Springtime in the Heartland
A beautiful spring day in Rochester, MN set the stage for a very successful event. Eight breeders from Minnesota joined forces with eight herds from Iowa to proudly showcase their genetics on April 28th. Consignments came from SheeKnoll Farms, Great Heritage Holsteins, Olmar Farms, Henkeseen Holsteins, Raylore Farm, Roughway Holsteins, Tande Farms, Korian Holsteins, Schillview Holsteins, Da-So-Burn Holsteins, Johnan Holsteins, Premier Genetics, Sapa Ska Farm, Moondale, Minnigan Hills/Red-My-Joy, and Courtlane.
The exceptional lineup saw steady prices from start to finish with the 75 full lots averaging $4303. Topping the sale at $10,200 was a beautifully uddered VG-87 Sr 2 Yr Old by Hi-Metro from the Dellia family at Regancrest. Consigned by Courtlane Holsteins of Ridgeway, IA, she was purchased by Trent Henkes and Brent Wessel of nearby Luana, IA.
The second high price of the day at $9200 was a 1st choice Diehard or Baxter female from a young GP-84 VG-MS O-Man with CTPI +2045, 1560F at 2-01, and carrying more than a dozen AI contracts. This member of the lineup from Darin and Sonya Burnikel from Cresco, IA was selected by Tim & Matt Zabel of Plainview, MN.
Wide Open Holsteins and Ken Pfaff of Alma Center, WI purchased the third high seller, an exciting Durham Winter Yearling from the VG young Champion daughter of Alicia 3E-97. She was part of the Premier Genetics string and brought $7700.
The sale was managed by Tom Morris Ltd, with Tom and Sandy at their usual posts, and Scott Courtney of Courtlane and Todd Pierson of Sapa Ska serving as state chairmen.
