![]() Good Sales Don't Just Happen - They're Managed Willows Edge Sale Henk and Bonnie Van Dyk hosted another addition of the Willows Edge Sale on Saturday, April 10th at their farm in New Richmond, WI. The sale averaged $4499 on 78 lots. It was managed by Tom Morris Ltd. Roger Turner announced pedigrees with Tom Morris as auctioneer. Sale staff included Scott Courtney, Rodney Hetts, Don Mayer, Trent Platt, Paul Trapp, Jr and Ken Empey. Leading the cattle were Todd Searles, Ryan Kamm, Jason Matthiae and Jordan and Claire Van Dyk. Tom Morris opened the sale introducing Henk and Bonnie, "America's Premier Breeders" and pointing out the many purple banners lining the walls of the barn. He went on to say it is easy to win banners with four or five cows at shows, but to breed cows and a whole herd, year after year, is a real accomplishment. Henk and Bonnie introduced the family and farm staff at the sale, including several international trainees. They said that this was by far the best group of cows ever at the farm with nine 94 point cows in the herd. They enjoy having these sales to have fun and market cows. Megan Needham, a daughter of a judge in St Croix County, sang "America the Beautiful" and the National Anthem to kick off the sale. An appearance was also made by the Easter Bunny, who passed out treats to those attending the sale. Topping the sale was Lot #1, Willows-Edge Dur Vapor-ET, the 3rd place Milking Yearling at World Dairy Expo 2003. This fancy Durham from three EX dams sold for $15,200 to Long Haven Farms, and Moriah Morris, Clayton, MI. Second high seller was Willows-Edge Broker Martina, a VG Broker just fresh in April from a EX-93 Stardust. Martina sold for $8,800 and was purchased by Chapin Dairy, El-Du Dairy and Dykshorn Holsteins, IA.
